Resist Project 2025 - News Briefs
🗳️ Heritage Foundation targets ranked-choice voting as Michigan petition gains momentum
What happens when voters try to change the rules—and powerful groups push back? Conservative organizations linked to the Heritage Foundation are mobilizing against a growing grassroots effort to bring ranked-choice voting to Michigan. Supporters say the reform would expand voter choice and reduce polarization. “Folks are super interested in not being punished as voters for having more choices. The math behind that is super simple,” Spaulding said. “When you tell a room full of folks that voters are punished for getting more choices — and the way that looks is, if a third person runs for a race, the winner only needs 34%, if a fourth person runs, it’s only 26% — they all nod.” — Michigan Advance
🌍 Meet the U.S. Donors Funding ELNET, the AIPAC of Europe
Did you know U.S.-style lobbying tactics are quietly reshaping European politics? An investigation by the Intercept reveals how a little-known group is expanding pro-Israel lobbying across Europe using strategies long deployed in the United States. “Funding ELNET’s work are more than 100 U.S. foundations, nonprofits, trusts, and charitable giving organizations that have poured at least $11 million into the group’s U.S. arm since 2022, an analysis by The Intercept found.” Critics argue the approach blurs the line between advocacy and coordinated political pressure. The expansion highlights growing transnational influence campaigns shaping foreign policy debates. — The Intercept
🗳️ Congress Squanders Last Chance to Block Venezuela War Before Going on Vacation
Can Congress quietly hand over its war powers? Lawmakers failed to pass an bill that requires Trump to seek authorization from Congress for further attacks on Venezuela. “Americans do not want another Iraq. If we intensify hostilities in Venezuela, we have no idea what we’re walking into,” McGovern said. “At least George Bush had the decency to come to Congress for approval in 2002. Don’t the American people deserve that respect today?” Many argue that Congress’s role is accountability and preventing executive overreach. The decision has reignited debate over who truly controls decisions of war and peace. — The Intercept
📂 Schumer, House Democrats accuse Justice Department of violating Epstein disclosure law
Why are the Epstein files still hidden? Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is urging Democrats to intensify efforts to release documents tied to Jeffrey Epstein. “The law Congress passed and President Trump signed was clear as can be — the Trump administration has 30 days to release ALL the Epstein files, not just some. Failing to do so is breaking the law. This just shows the Department of Justice, Donald Trump and Pam Bondi are hellbent on hiding the truth,” Schumer said in a statement.” Lawmakers argue transparency is essential to uncover whether powerful figures were shielded from accountability. Resistance from Republicans has only fueled public pressure for full disclosure. — The Hill
🛡️ The Longest Suicide Note in American History
What if democracy itself is the national security threat we’re ignoring? An analysis in the Atlantic analysis argues that authoritarianism, disinformation, and internal democratic erosion pose dangers equal to foreign adversaries. “The Trump administration’s new National Security Strategy targets liberal democracy itself.” Protecting democracy, the author warns, requires sustained policy—not slogans. — The Atlantic
Together, we can Resist and Stop Project 2025
When leaders escape accountability, it signals that power—not justice—rules, eroding trust, fueling corruption, and opening the door to authoritarianism. Billionaire-backed justices and elites aren’t serving the people—they’re scheming to suppress our voices, strip away our rights, and rule over us. But progress and power to the people is more than an idea; it’s a movement. By standing up, speaking out, and demanding dignity, opportunity, and justice for all, we can build an America that truly lives up to its promise.

Project 2025 is Harming Americans
Project 2025 is an extreme, authoritarian agenda that threatens American democracy, freedoms, and civil rights. Backed by conservative mega-donors like the Koch family and led by the Heritage Foundation and over 100 aligned groups, it lays out a 900+ page plan to centralize power under the presidency and permanently dismantle the federal government as we know it.
The plan would replace 50,000 nonpartisan civil servants with loyalists, grant the president near-total control over agencies like the DOJ, FBI, and Federal Reserve, and criminalize protest through militarized policing. It seeks to ban abortion and contraception, end LGBTQIA+ protections, dismantle public education, eliminate Medicaid and Medicare, and defund labor, environmental, and disability protections. Promoting Christian nationalism, it would erase the separation of church and state, suppress voting rights, and silence dissent—paving the way for a permanent far-right dictatorship.
Summary of Harms:
Dismantles democracy and installs authoritarian rule
Criminalizes dissent and minority communities
Ends reproductive and LGBTQ+ rights
Defunds public healthcare and education
Destroys labor, environmental, and disability protections
Increases tax burdens on working people
Erases civil rights and church/state separation
Suppresses voting and opposition voices
We must organize, resist, and protect our communities from this dangerous assault.

How do we fight Fascism?
Hope
Hope is a powerful weapon against fascism, serving as both a shield and a rallying cry in the face of fear and oppression. While fascism thrives on division, despair, and apathy, hope inspires unity, action, and resilience. Hope empowers us to envision a society built on equality, justice, and freedom, motivating us to take meaningful steps to protect these values.
Respect
Respect is a formidable weapon against fascism, countering its foundation of hatred and dehumanization with dignity and inclusivity. By leading with respect, we create a society where collaboration and compassion overpower fear and division, rendering fascism powerless in the face of unity.
Unity
Unity is one of the most powerful weapons against fascism, as it dismantles the divide-and-conquer tactics that authoritarian regimes rely on to maintain power.
🗽The strength of a nation is not its ability to fight wars, but rather by its ability to prevent them. - Gene Roddenberry
Together, we can protect and empower those we love, champion our rights, freedoms, and democracy, hold our leaders accountable to the people’s will, and inspire voters to make a meaningful difference.
