📺 60 Minutes segment on Trump deportations pulled by CBS chief Bari Weiss
What happens when a major investigative story is shelved at the last minute? A planned 60 Minutes report on the Trump administration’s deportation policy — focusing on Venezuelan migrants sent to El Salvador’s notorious CECOT prison — was abruptly pulled just hours before it was set to air. Correspondent Sharyn Alfonsi and others accused CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss of political interference, saying the vetted story was snatched from the lineup despite passing legal and editorial reviews. Weiss defended the decision as an editorial judgment that the piece “wasn’t ready,” sparking widespread debate about journalistic independence at one of broadcast news’s most iconic programs. — The New York Times
⚠️ Indiana Lt. Gov: Trump Threatened To Withhold Funding If We Didn’t Redistrict
What happens when election officials refuse to fall in line? Indiana’s lieutenant governor says Donald Trump personally threatened Indiana lawmakers stance on election integrity. He describes pressure tactics aimed at enforcing loyalty rather than respecting democratic norms. “In a now-deleted post, Indiana Lieutenant Governor Micah Beckwith said Thursday the Trump administration very explicitly threatened to withhold federal funds from the state if it didn’t bow to pressure and help him rig the House by drawing a new congressional map. “The Trump admin was VERY clear about this,” Beckwith, a MAGA Republican who supported the unprecedented redistricting plan, said on social media.” The account adds to mounting evidence of intimidation faced by officials who resist election subversion. — Yahoo News
📬 Democracy Forward Demands Transparency After Kennedy Center Was Unlawfully and Abruptly Renamed
Democracy Forward submitted a federal information request following the Kennedy Center’s refusal to release records related to the “unlawful renaming of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (Kennedy Center) without public notice or explanation.” Advocates argue that public access to such records is critical for accountability and transparency in how taxpayer dollars are used by federally supported institutions. “The Kennedy Center – long recognized for its excellence and committed to sharing the performing arts with the public – and the American people who benefit from it have been traumatized and embarrassed under the Trump-Vance administration, which has upended tradition, fired trustees, and changed programming to fit its political agenda. Attendance is down and artists are boycotting appearances. Now, the Board is attempting to continue to aid and abet the President’s vanity exercise by violating federal law. How this treasured landmark is governed and how decisions are being reached — especially ones as consequential and abrupt as decimating its purpose and legacy — must be transparent, accountable, and open to public scrutiny” said Skye Perryman, President and CEO of Democracy Forward. — Democracy Forward
⚖️ Attorney General Charity Clark: I’ve Been Battling the Trump Administration for 11 Months. Here’s Why.
What does standing up to federal power actually look like? Vermont Attorney General Charity Clark details her ongoing legal battles with the Trump administration, citing federal overreach and harm to state residents. “Having sued the Trump Administration 36 times in 11 months, I am reflecting on the wild ride of 2025 – and preparing for what’s next.” She frames the fight as a defense of constitutional checks and balances. Clark argues that when federal authority is abused, states have a duty to push back. — Caledonian Record
🕵️We need to stand up against government surveillance
How much privacy are we willing to give up for security? In a piece for the Summit Daily, Sam Fogleman, warns that expanding government surveillance threatens civil liberties and chills free expression. “Flock is investing in remote-operated drones, now has a partnership with Amazon Ring cameras, and has a documented track record of national searches with “ICE” as the reason for access (1,400 in Denver alone). This company has already shown itself, through these searches, to be complicit and an accomplice in a national kidnapping ring run by our federal government and would likely cooperate with any federal search warrant of customer data.” He argues that unchecked monitoring erodes democratic accountability and urges all to demand stronger oversight, transparency, and limits on government power. — Summit Daily
Together, we can Resist and Stop Project 2025
When leaders escape accountability, it signals that power—not justice—rules, eroding trust, fueling corruption, and opening the door to authoritarianism. Billionaire-backed justices and elites aren’t serving the people—they’re scheming to suppress our voices, strip away our rights, and rule over us. But progress and power to the people is more than an idea; it’s a movement. By standing up, speaking out, and demanding dignity, opportunity, and justice for all, we can build an America that truly lives up to its promise.

Project 2025 is Harming Americans
Project 2025 is an extreme, authoritarian agenda that threatens American democracy, freedoms, and civil rights. Backed by conservative mega-donors like the Koch family and led by the Heritage Foundation and over 100 aligned groups, it lays out a 900+ page plan to centralize power under the presidency and permanently dismantle the federal government as we know it.
The plan would replace 50,000 nonpartisan civil servants with loyalists, grant the president near-total control over agencies like the DOJ, FBI, and Federal Reserve, and criminalize protest through militarized policing. It seeks to ban abortion and contraception, end LGBTQIA+ protections, dismantle public education, eliminate Medicaid and Medicare, and defund labor, environmental, and disability protections. Promoting Christian nationalism, it would erase the separation of church and state, suppress voting rights, and silence dissent—paving the way for a permanent far-right dictatorship.
Summary of Harms:
Dismantles democracy and installs authoritarian rule
Criminalizes dissent and minority communities
Ends reproductive and LGBTQ+ rights
Defunds public healthcare and education
Destroys labor, environmental, and disability protections
Increases tax burdens on working people
Erases civil rights and church/state separation
Suppresses voting and opposition voices
We must organize, resist, and protect our communities from this dangerous assault.

How do we fight Fascism?
Hope
Hope is a powerful weapon against fascism, serving as both a shield and a rallying cry in the face of fear and oppression. While fascism thrives on division, despair, and apathy, hope inspires unity, action, and resilience. Hope empowers us to envision a society built on equality, justice, and freedom, motivating us to take meaningful steps to protect these values.
Respect
Respect is a formidable weapon against fascism, countering its foundation of hatred and dehumanization with dignity and inclusivity. By leading with respect, we create a society where collaboration and compassion overpower fear and division, rendering fascism powerless in the face of unity.
Unity
Unity is one of the most powerful weapons against fascism, as it dismantles the divide-and-conquer tactics that authoritarian regimes rely on to maintain power.
🗽The strength of a nation is not its ability to fight wars, but rather by its ability to prevent them. - Gene Roddenberry
Together, we can protect and empower those we love, champion our rights, freedoms, and democracy, hold our leaders accountable to the people’s will, and inspire voters to make a meaningful difference.
