Resist Project 2025 - News Briefs
🏛️ Allred switches from Texas Senate race to a House comeback bid. Crockett’s Senate decision looms
Former House Representative Colin Allred has ended his campaign for the U.S. Senate in Texas and is instead running for a House — essentially eyeing a return to Congress. The move clears the way for Representative Jasmine Crockett to become the front-runner for the Democratic Senate nomination. Allred said he wanted to avoid a divisive primary that could weaken Democrats’ electoral prospects. His decision follows a Republican led redistricting effort that created the district he once represented. — The Associated Press
🚨 Democrats Call for Release of Boat Strike Footage. Here’s What It May Show
Top Democratic lawmakers are demanding the public release of classified video showing a controversial U.S. military strike on a suspected drug-smuggling boat in the Caribbean on September 2, 2025. The video reportedly shows a second strike on survivors from the first attack — two unarmed individuals clinging to a capsized vessel. The footage has prompted sharp accusations the follow-up may have violated international law, with lawmakers calling the attack “deeply disturbing” and potentially a war crime. Republicans briefed on the video dispute that the survivors were defenseless are arguing the boat remained a valid target. — Time
🤝 Must the Military Disobey Unlawful Orders? Pam Bondi Has Said Yes.
“As a lawyer for a conservative think tank, Ms. Bondi, now the attorney general, filed a Supreme Court brief last year saying service members who followed such orders were committing crimes.” Her past brief to the Supreme Court asserted that following such orders would make service members complicit in crimes. The filing reflects a sharp stance on the limits of military obedience and underscores questions of accountability if orders cross legal or constitutional lines. Many question Pam Bondi’s motives now that she is part of the Trump administration. — The New York Times
⚖️ The Supreme Court weighs Trump’s bid to fire independent agency board members
The U.S. Supreme Court is hearing arguments on whether to overturn a 90-year-old precedent — Humphrey’s Executor v. United States (1935) — that protects members of independent agencies from being fired without cause. The case centers on President Donald J. Trump’s removal of Federal Trade Commission (FTC) member Rebecca Slaughter. Conservative justices appear receptive to expanding executive removal power, a shift that could reshape the balance of power between the presidency and independent regulatory agencies. The ruling could have broad implications for dozens of federal boards and commissions. — Associated Press
🎬 ‘This merger must be blocked’: Netflix-Warner Bros deal faces fierce backlash
Netflix is receiving sharp criticism for entering a first-look agreement with Warner Brothers, a move many say undermines independent filmmakers and consolidates power among major studios. Opponents argue the deal could limit creative diversity by giving a single streaming giant disproportionate influence over new film projects. Industry observers warn that smaller production companies may struggle to compete. Supporters claim the partnership could streamline distribution and expand global reach. — The Guardian
Together, we can Resist and Stop Project 2025
When leaders escape accountability, it signals that power—not justice—rules, eroding trust, fueling corruption, and opening the door to authoritarianism. Billionaire-backed justices and elites aren’t serving the people—they’re scheming to suppress our voices, strip away our rights, and rule over us. But progress and power to the people is more than an idea; it’s a movement. By standing up, speaking out, and demanding dignity, opportunity, and justice for all, we can build an America that truly lives up to its promise.

Project 2025 is Harming Americans
Project 2025 is an extreme, authoritarian agenda that threatens American democracy, freedoms, and civil rights. Backed by conservative mega-donors like the Koch family and led by the Heritage Foundation and over 100 aligned groups, it lays out a 900+ page plan to centralize power under the presidency and permanently dismantle the federal government as we know it.
The plan would replace 50,000 nonpartisan civil servants with loyalists, grant the president near-total control over agencies like the DOJ, FBI, and Federal Reserve, and criminalize protest through militarized policing. It seeks to ban abortion and contraception, end LGBTQIA+ protections, dismantle public education, eliminate Medicaid and Medicare, and defund labor, environmental, and disability protections. Promoting Christian nationalism, it would erase the separation of church and state, suppress voting rights, and silence dissent—paving the way for a permanent far-right dictatorship.
Summary of Harms:
Dismantles democracy and installs authoritarian rule
Criminalizes dissent and minority communities
Ends reproductive and LGBTQ+ rights
Defunds public healthcare and education
Destroys labor, environmental, and disability protections
Increases tax burdens on working people
Erases civil rights and church/state separation
Suppresses voting and opposition voices
We must organize, resist, and protect our communities from this dangerous assault.

How do we fight Fascism?
Hope
Hope is a powerful weapon against fascism, serving as both a shield and a rallying cry in the face of fear and oppression. While fascism thrives on division, despair, and apathy, hope inspires unity, action, and resilience. Hope empowers us to envision a society built on equality, justice, and freedom, motivating us to take meaningful steps to protect these values.
Respect
Respect is a formidable weapon against fascism, countering its foundation of hatred and dehumanization with dignity and inclusivity. By leading with respect, we create a society where collaboration and compassion overpower fear and division, rendering fascism powerless in the face of unity.
Unity
Unity is one of the most powerful weapons against fascism, as it dismantles the divide-and-conquer tactics that authoritarian regimes rely on to maintain power.
🗽The strength of a nation is not its ability to fight wars, but rather by its ability to prevent them. - Gene Roddenberry
Together, we can protect and empower those we love, champion our rights, freedoms, and democracy, hold our leaders accountable to the people’s will, and inspire voters to make a meaningful difference.
