📚 Lawsuit Challenges a Nonprofit’s Scholarships for Hispanic Students
A new lawsuit alleges that the Hispanic Scholarship Fund “discriminates against people of other races and ethnicities.” Plaintiffs argue that the group’s screening process “violates the Civil Rights Act by restricting eligibility for its marquee scholars program to those who “identify as being Hispanic.” The case raises broader questions about identity-based scholarships and how organizations define eligibility. A larger question is whether organizations that offer scholarships to support specific racial or ethnic groups should be required to stop doing so. — The New York Times
🏛️ Trump Renames Institute of Peace for Himself
The Trump administration is pushing to reshape the institution by rebranding it in alignment with the president’s foreign-policy ideology, sparking concern among diplomats and peace-building experts. “George Foote, a former lawyer for the institute who is now part of the lawsuit against the administration, said in a statement on Wednesday that “renaming the U.S.I.P. building adds insult to injury.” Critics say the move threatens the institute’s long-standing bipartisan mission and could politicize its global conflict-resolution work. — The New York Times
🧬 Opinion | The CDC’s next anti-vaccine clown show is coming. Take your seats.
The editorial board of the Washington Post argues that universal vaccination against hepatitis B is overdue given rising infection rates and the availability of safe, effective vaccines. “The vaccine, first approved in the 1980s and recommended universally at birth in 1991, has been credited with reducing infections in children and teens by 99 percent.” Despite strong scientific evidence, proposed recommendations have faced political resistance and misinformation under the leadership of Robert F Kennedy Jr as the Health and Human Services Secretary. The board calls on federal advisory groups to act decisively to protect public health and acknowledge fact based scientific methods. — The Washington Post
🪙 Trump Pardons Developer Prosecuted by His Administration
The Trump administration’s decision to pardon a wealthy executive, Timothy J. Leiweke, has triggered fierce criticism from legal experts who say the move bypasses the Justice Department’s review process. Critics argue the pardon reinforces perceptions that the system favors the well-connected while leaving ordinary petitioners waiting years for consideration. The incident has renewed calls for structural reforms to curb political influence and expand fairness in clemency decisions. — The New York Times
💉 Illinois can set its own vaccine guidelines, bypassing Trump administration
Illinois Governor JB Pritzker has signed into law new guidelines outlining when and how people should receive vaccines, as well as which immunizations insurance companies must cover — regardless of federal recommendations. In response to the misinformation coming from the Trump administration and its dismissal of public health experts, state officials across the country are taking steps to keep their residents safe and healthy. — The Washington Post

Together, we can Resist and Stop Project 2025
When leaders escape accountability, it signals that power—not justice—rules, eroding trust, fueling corruption, and opening the door to authoritarianism. Billionaire-backed justices and elites aren’t serving the people—they’re scheming to suppress our voices, strip away our rights, and rule over us. But progress and power to the people is more than an idea; it’s a movement. By standing up, speaking out, and demanding dignity, opportunity, and justice for all, we can build an America that truly lives up to its promise.

Project 2025 is Harming Americans
Project 2025 is an extreme, authoritarian agenda that threatens American democracy, freedoms, and civil rights. Backed by conservative mega-donors like the Koch family and led by the Heritage Foundation and over 100 aligned groups, it lays out a 900+ page plan to centralize power under the presidency and permanently dismantle the federal government as we know it.
The plan would replace 50,000 nonpartisan civil servants with loyalists, grant the president near-total control over agencies like the DOJ, FBI, and Federal Reserve, and criminalize protest through militarized policing. It seeks to ban abortion and contraception, end LGBTQIA+ protections, dismantle public education, eliminate Medicaid and Medicare, and defund labor, environmental, and disability protections. Promoting Christian nationalism, it would erase the separation of church and state, suppress voting rights, and silence dissent—paving the way for a permanent far-right dictatorship.
Summary of Harms:
Dismantles democracy and installs authoritarian rule
Criminalizes dissent and minority communities
Ends reproductive and LGBTQ+ rights
Defunds public healthcare and education
Destroys labor, environmental, and disability protections
Increases tax burdens on working people
Erases civil rights and church/state separation
Suppresses voting and opposition voices
We must organize, resist, and protect our communities from this dangerous assault.

How do we fight Fascism?
Hope
Hope is a powerful weapon against fascism, serving as both a shield and a rallying cry in the face of fear and oppression. While fascism thrives on division, despair, and apathy, hope inspires unity, action, and resilience. Hope empowers us to envision a society built on equality, justice, and freedom, motivating us to take meaningful steps to protect these values.
Respect
Respect is a formidable weapon against fascism, countering its foundation of hatred and dehumanization with dignity and inclusivity. By leading with respect, we create a society where collaboration and compassion overpower fear and division, rendering fascism powerless in the face of unity.
Unity
Unity is one of the most powerful weapons against fascism, as it dismantles the divide-and-conquer tactics that authoritarian regimes rely on to maintain power.
🗽The strength of a nation is not its ability to fight wars, but rather by its ability to prevent them. - Gene Roddenberry
Together, we can protect and empower those we love, champion our rights, freedoms, and democracy, hold our leaders accountable to the people’s will, and inspire voters to make a meaningful difference.
