Resist Project 2025 - News Briefs
🛂 Green card applicants married to U.S. citizens are being arrested, creating uncertainty for immigrant families
Immigrants married to U.S. citizens are increasingly being arrested during routine green card interviews, despite having no criminal records. Immigration attorneys report a sharp rise in detentions that leave families shocked and separated without warning. “The Trump administration says they were detained because they had overstayed their visas, but longtime attorneys say that has never been an issue previously for spouses of U.S. citizens.” The arrests have created widespread fear and confusion among mixed-status families who believed marriage provided stability and legal protection. Advocates warn the practice undermines trust in the immigration system and due process. — NBC News
💉 Calls to pull COVID vaccines get louder
Allies of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. submitted a petition urging federal regulators to suspend COVID-19 vaccine approvals and distribution. The petition claims insufficient safety data despite extensive scientific evidence supporting vaccine effectiveness and safety. Public health experts warn the effort could erode trust in vaccines and fuel misinformation. The move reflects broader attempts to politicize public health policy. — Axios
💸 Senate Republicans Blocked Yet Another Chance to Save Obamacare Subsidies
Congressional Republicans are blocking extensions of Affordable Care Act premium subsidies that have helped millions afford health coverage. Without action, insurance costs are expected to spike sharply for middle- and working-class families. Health advocates warn the lapse could push millions off coverage entirely. “In a video recorded after the votes, Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) expressed her anger towards Republican colleagues. “They voted to increase health care costs across the board, and now millions of Americans are left with the impossible decision of choosing between paying for health insurance or paying their rent,” Warren said. “They’ve all fallen in line behind Donald Trump and left American families in the dirt.” The standoff underscores ongoing partisan battles over health care access. — Mother Jones
🪖 Trump’s Military Occupations of U.S. Cities Cost $473 Million and Rising
An Intercept investigation details the financial and human costs of deploying National Guard and military forces for domestic operations under the Trump administration. It reveals millions in spending on logistics, equipment, and personnel, often without clear oversight or long-term planning. Communities affected by deployments reported heightened tensions and civil liberties concerns. “President Donald Trump’s military occupations of U.S. cities have cost nearly half a billion dollars, according to an expert estimate provided exclusively to The Intercept.” — The Intercept
✈️ The Questionable Case of Kristi Noem’s $50 Million Luxury Jet
The Department of Homeland Security approved the Coast Guard’s acquisition of a $50 million Gulfstream luxury jet for use by Kristi Noem. Coast Guard search and rescue planes need fixing, but DHS argues Noem suddenly requires a fancy new jet for safety reasons. The decision has drawn scrutiny amid broader debates over government accountability. — The Intercept
Together, we can Resist and Stop Project 2025
When leaders escape accountability, it signals that power—not justice—rules, eroding trust, fueling corruption, and opening the door to authoritarianism. Billionaire-backed justices and elites aren’t serving the people—they’re scheming to suppress our voices, strip away our rights, and rule over us. But progress and power to the people is more than an idea; it’s a movement. By standing up, speaking out, and demanding dignity, opportunity, and justice for all, we can build an America that truly lives up to its promise.

Project 2025 is Harming Americans
Project 2025 is an extreme, authoritarian agenda that threatens American democracy, freedoms, and civil rights. Backed by conservative mega-donors like the Koch family and led by the Heritage Foundation and over 100 aligned groups, it lays out a 900+ page plan to centralize power under the presidency and permanently dismantle the federal government as we know it.
The plan would replace 50,000 nonpartisan civil servants with loyalists, grant the president near-total control over agencies like the DOJ, FBI, and Federal Reserve, and criminalize protest through militarized policing. It seeks to ban abortion and contraception, end LGBTQIA+ protections, dismantle public education, eliminate Medicaid and Medicare, and defund labor, environmental, and disability protections. Promoting Christian nationalism, it would erase the separation of church and state, suppress voting rights, and silence dissent—paving the way for a permanent far-right dictatorship.
Summary of Harms:
Dismantles democracy and installs authoritarian rule
Criminalizes dissent and minority communities
Ends reproductive and LGBTQ+ rights
Defunds public healthcare and education
Destroys labor, environmental, and disability protections
Increases tax burdens on working people
Erases civil rights and church/state separation
Suppresses voting and opposition voices
We must organize, resist, and protect our communities from this dangerous assault.

How do we fight Fascism?
Hope
Hope is a powerful weapon against fascism, serving as both a shield and a rallying cry in the face of fear and oppression. While fascism thrives on division, despair, and apathy, hope inspires unity, action, and resilience. Hope empowers us to envision a society built on equality, justice, and freedom, motivating us to take meaningful steps to protect these values.
Respect
Respect is a formidable weapon against fascism, countering its foundation of hatred and dehumanization with dignity and inclusivity. By leading with respect, we create a society where collaboration and compassion overpower fear and division, rendering fascism powerless in the face of unity.
Unity
Unity is one of the most powerful weapons against fascism, as it dismantles the divide-and-conquer tactics that authoritarian regimes rely on to maintain power.
🗽The strength of a nation is not its ability to fight wars, but rather by its ability to prevent them. - Gene Roddenberry
Together, we can protect and empower those we love, champion our rights, freedoms, and democracy, hold our leaders accountable to the people’s will, and inspire voters to make a meaningful difference.
