America First Agenda: What To Know About The Project 2025 AlternativeâThat Trump Isnât Disavowing
America Firstâs policy blueprint lays out a number of priorities in line with policy views that Trump and his allies have pushed, including imposing tariffs on imported goods, lowering corporate tax rates, protecting âreligious freedom,â increasing domestic oil and gas production, getting rid of climate change efforts, opposing policies supporting transgender rights, opposing any gun control measures, imposing work requirements for Medicaid recipients, curbing immigration and reducing Americaâs role in assisting with international conflicts. The agenda does not call for banning abortion entirely at the federal level, but does argue for defunding Planned Parenthood. It also does not adopt Trumpâs proposal for mass deportations of undocumented immigrants, but does call for finishing the border wall between the U.S. and Mexico, increasing funding for border agents and ending legal immigration programs like family-based immigration paths and the visa lottery.
Project 2025 proposals will âupendâ and devastate the Black community, new report claims
The report argues calls to increase the use of the now-suspended federal death penalty would hit communities of color especially hard, given their over-representation on death row, as would an attempt end to federal consent decrees, legal agreements with police agencies that have been a key tool in cracking down on officer misconduct.

The conservative agenda would also affect the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the report says, by directing the office to limit its investigations of alleged race and gender discrimination despite being the most common complaints.

Project 2025 Offers Cuts to Education, Classroom Censorship and Expanded Book Bans
Project 2025 proposes expanding book-banning efforts in schools, making it a federal priority and criminalizing librarians who allow students to choose banned books. Research has shown that most book bans seek to eliminate books focused on oppression and important historical contexts, such as slavery, racism or white supremacy. Other banned books touch on issues of race, sexuality and gender. Efforts to ban books in Mississippi have often focused on these topics, including an attempt at a library in Ridgeland, Miss., and successful book bans in the Marion County library.
Ethics office clears federal official for his Project 2025 involvement
âGiven the close ties between Project 2025, Trump, and his re-election campaign, it is deeply troubling that Commissioner Carr would use his official title and position to author part of the political playbook for a Republican presidential candidate,â the Democratic lawmakers wrote over the summer. âThis potential misuse of title raises serious questions about Commissioner Carrâs commitment to keeping his private political activities separate from his official duties.âÂ
Project 2025âs dire impact on libraries
Libraries are particularly vulnerable to budget cuts. The Heritage Foundation well knows this. The report points out that Project 2025, in addition to eliminating the Department of Education, would dismantle the Institute of Museum and Library Services. The IMLS is an independent agency that administers federal funds to libraries and museums. The loss of federal funding would end a wide range of programs, including library workforce development, technology upgrades, and community outreach initiatives. Libraries, particularly those in underserved and rural areas, would struggle to maintain current levels of service without federal support. This could lead to reduced hours, staff layoffs, and the elimination of important programs and services.

The Occupational Safety and Health Act, or OSH Act, of 1970 is the bedrock on which our nationâs and statesâ worker-safety laws stand. The act has saved countless lives and punished employers for preventable injuries and deaths on the job. Project 2025 calls for allowing businesses under a certain size to break these laws without penalty, no matter what deaths or injuries may be caused by a businessâ negligence or recklessness.

Statement on Project 2025
People Power United declares Project 2025 is a clear and present danger to our rights, freedoms, democracy, and the rule of law.
In response to recent MAGA shenanigans to enact Project 2025, People Power United - a progressive grassroots group - issued the following statement:
âProject 2025 is a dangerous plan to move America from a democracy to a theocratic autocracy. There is no power like that of the people, and People Power United stands ready to protect our communities against any and all injustices,â said Laurie Woodward GarcĂa of People Power United.
People Power United will continue to oppose such harm to our community and champion civil rights for all.
Trumpâs Project 2025 Will Give Extreme MAGA Republicans Total Control
Donald Trumpâs Project 2025 is a blatant power grab that aims to give extreme MAGA Republicans unchecked authority. They plan to use this power to criminalize abortion, undermine the middle class, and dismantle Social Security and Medicare.
Under Trumpâs Project 2025, Republicans intend to impose a nationwide abortion ban and create a national registry to monitor womenâs pregnancies and miscarriages. They even threaten to imprison doctors and nurses who provide essential care.
If enacted, Project 2025 would also gut the Affordable Care Act, leading to higher healthcare costs for everyone and a loss of protections for pre-existing conditions. Workers would lose their right to overtime pay, and middle-class families would face tax hikesâall while wealthy corporations receive new handouts.
Republicans' Project 2025 includes a detailed plan to dismantle Social Security and Medicare as we know them. This means slashing benefits for seniors and allowing Big Pharma to charge exorbitant prices for medication.
Here is a brief list of the harms Project 2025 would cause to our communities:
Gives the President "Supreme Powers."
Fires 50,000 federal workers and replaces them with loyalists
Militarizes law enforcement
Replaces public education with Christian education
Criminalizes people based on their race, country of origin, religion, sexual orientation, identity, age, pronouns, race, religion, ethnicity, abilities, and the money in their bank account. Exceptions made for the âSupreme Leaderâ and loyalists.
Ends reproductive freedom
Defunds all affordable housing efforts and shifts to a privatizing model with a rollback of efforts to protect renters and property owners
Dismantles environmental protections
Criminalizes immigrants
