Trump appointed people linked to Project 2025 despite transition team co-chair and new Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick vowing ahead of the election to âblacklistâ anyone involved with the project from serving in the administration. âHeritage, because of Project 2025, is radioactive,â Lutnick told The New York Post before the vice presidential debate in October. âAs in, none, zero, radioactive. So thatâs a clear position.â The Trump transition team has not yet commented on its appointeesâ ties to Project 2025.
Now we know: Trump was planning to do Project 2025 all along
Project 2025 called for halting federal funds for education and social welfare programs, including limiting eligibility for Medicaid. Well, guess what happened the minute Trump took office? That very plan was put into action. It was not explained which programs should be cut by people in a rush to bring Project 2025 to life.

Paul Dans, who served as the director of Project 2025 but left his post in July, said of Mr. Trump's actions so far that they were a testament not only to the initiative's efforts, but also the readiness of the conservative movement in preparing for the next administration.
What Trumpâs Project 2025 Means for Me and My IUD
The Trump administration has been very clear in Project 2025 that it plans to strip birth control access for millions of people through policy changes like letting your employer deny you birth control coverage for any reason and getting rid of coverage through the ACA for some birth control methods, like emergency contraception. The Supreme Court recently agreed to hear a case that might have implications down the road for the birth control benefit. And Justice Thomas has basically flat out said he wants the extremist majority on the Supreme Court to overturn Griswold v. Connecticut, a foundational case for the legal right to birth control.

But many of the conservative blueprintâs ideas have made their way into his early executive orders, signaling the sweeping impact the Heritage Foundation document has already had on the Trump administrationâs policy making. A side-by-side review by POLITICO found dozens of cases where the presidentâs early executive actions have aligned with portions of the 922-page policy document, including some instances with nearly verbatim language lifted from the report to the White House.

The Republican Party adopted Trumpâs proposal, which was an idea also pushed by Project 2025, in its platform last summer.
Senate Confirms Russell Vought as Office of Management and Budget Director
After leaving the office, Mr. Vought founded the Center for Renewing America, a conservative think tank, and was an architect of Project 2025. That document was an effort by conservative groups to develop detailed ideas for policies and executive actions that Mr. Trump could pursue to tear down and rebuild executive government institutions in a way that would enhance presidential power.
