This week: Trump-appointed judges rubber-stamping the administration’s agenda at staggering rates, Republicans announcing a plan to nationalize our elections, a congresswoman standing up for the constitutional rights of every person born on U.S. soil, and a Catholic military archbishop telling service members they may refuse illegal orders. These are not separate stories. They are one blueprint.

What Happened: This Week's Project 2025 Stories
⚖️ Trump’s Hand-Picked Judges Are Voting For Him 97% of the Time
A detailed analysis of federal appeals court rulings found that Trump-appointed judges sided with his administration on emergency stays 97% of the time. The three DC Circuit Trump appointees alone cast the majority of those pro-administration votes. Now three more conservative appeals court judges are stepping into semi-retirement, giving Trump new vacancies to fill with loyalists before the midterms. New York Times
Why This Matters: When judges are installed to serve power rather than law, the courts stop being a check on authoritarianism — they become its instrument. This is exactly what Project 2025 always intended: locking in control of institutions that will outlast any election.
🗽 Congress Fights Back: Resolution to Defend the Fourteenth Amendment
Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib and thirteen co-sponsors introduced a formal resolution calling on Congress to recommit to defending the Fourteenth Amendment — the constitutional guarantee of birthright citizenship, due process, and equal protection for every person in this country. Why This Matters: The Fourteenth Amendment exists to stop a government from deciding which human beings count under the law. This resolution may not pass — and its sponsors know that. But it names what is happening, forces lawmakers on record, and reminds us our constitutional rights are worth fighting for in every arena.
🗳️ Republicans Unveil the “MEGA Act” — A National Voter Suppression Blueprint
After Trump declared that Republicans should “nationalize the voting” and take over elections in at least 15 states, House Republicans unveiled the Make Elections Great Again (MEGA) Act — sweeping legislation that would codify the most extreme voting restrictions ever attempted at the federal level. Paired with the SAVE Act’s citizenship documentation requirement just to register, experts warn millions would be disenfranchised, especially married women, rural voters, and communities of color. Why This Matters: 69 million Americans lack a birth certificate in their current name — most are married women. Half of Americans don’t have a passport. This isn’t election security. It’s voter suppression with a new name. When you control who can vote, you control who wins.
✝️ Catholic Military Archbishop Tells Troops: You May Disobey Illegal Orders
As the Trump administration threatened military force to seize Greenland from a founding NATO ally and deployed troops to Venezuela, the Catholic archbishop for the U.S. armed forces stated it “would be morally acceptable” for service members to disobey orders violating their conscience. Why This Matters: When a military archbishop publicly tells troops they can say no, that is not a normal moment in American history. Think about the child born here to an immigrant family — a constitutional citizen — now told that birthright might be revoked by executive order. The married woman in rural Montana with no current-name birth certificate, told she must produce one just to register. The Black voter in Atlanta. The naturalized citizen in Michigan. The service member wondering if the order they just received is even legal.
These are not abstractions. Project 2025 was always a blueprint to concentrate power by stripping rights from the many — women, immigrants, voters of color, working people, anyone who believes the Constitution means what it says. The harm is not coming. It is already here. The communities in its path are the same ones that have always been in the crosshairs: those with the least protection and the most to lose.

The pattern is intentional. Control the courts so no law can stop you. Restrict the ballot so no election can remove you. Weaponize the military so no border can constrain you. That is not a slippery slope. It is a plan. It has a name: Project 2025. And it is running on schedule.
Authoritarian projects have always recruited judges, legislatures, and armies — and they have always been stopped by organized people who refused to normalize what they were seeing. The archbishop who spoke up. The election official who said no. The congresswoman who introduced a resolution knowing it might fail. We are those people.
