Freedom Over Fascism: Resist Project 2025 for April 24, 2026
Resist Project 2025 people-powered news for April 24, 2026: exposing ICE secrecy, detention abuse, and attacks on due process.
They’re Counting on You to Look Away from Project 2025. Don’t.
The pattern is getting harder to ignore. This week, reporting showed immigrant deaths rising in ICE custody even as the agency shortened the public reports it releases after detainee deaths. A major lawsuit in Maine challenged the violent detention of a lawful visa holder by federal agents, arguing that state civil rights law can still be used to hold them accountable. The wife of an active-duty Army sergeant was detained during a residency appointment despite her work permit and her family’s military service. And children at the Dilley family detention center described worms in their food, untreated illness, and medical neglect so severe it shocked the public conscience.
This is Resist Project 2025 in real time: impunity for the powerful, punishment for dissent, chaos at the top, and propaganda aimed at the public while democracy absorbs the damage. The playbook depends on people missing the connection. We cannot afford to look away.
What Happened: This Week's Project 2025 Stories
This week’s stories were about more than immigration headlines. They showed how secrecy, arbitrary detention, and dehumanization feed one another when accountability collapses. Under this kind of politics, people can die in custody while the public gets fewer details, masked agents can allegedly smash a car window and drag a lawful resident out at taser-point, even military families can be treated as disposable, and children can be left to describe worms in their food and medical neglect from inside a detention center. That is not order. It is a system teaching the public to accept abuse as normal.
As immigrant deaths in custody grow, ICE reduces what details are made public
Deaths are rising, and ICE is telling the public less. NBC News reports detainee death reports were cut from detailed three-page accounts to brief summaries even as 16 people had already died in custody this year and 33 died last year, the highest total in more than two decades. Freedom over fascism means rejecting secrecy, demanding transparency, and refusing to let human beings disappear behind locked doors. NBC News
The Clever New Lawsuit That Could Finally End ICE’s Reign of Terror in Blue States
Masked agents smashed a lawful immigrant’s car window, dragged him out at taser-point, and now a lawsuit could finally fight back. Slate reports on a case built around the Maine Civil Rights Act after federal agents allegedly racially profiled and unlawfully detained Juan Sebastián Carvajal-Muñoz during an ICE operation. People power means using every tool available to stop abductions, defend constitutional rights, and make federal agents answer to the law. Slate
ICE detains the wife of an Army sergeant in Texas as military family leniency wanes
Even military families are not safe from this crackdown. ICE detained the wife of an active-duty Army sergeant during a residency appointment, despite her work permit and her husband’s military service. When the state treats a soldier’s family as disposable, it sends a message that families do not matter. People power means rejecting fear, cruelty, and arbitrary detention. The Seattle Times
‘There’s Been Worms In The Food’: Ms. Rachel Details Kids’ Lives In Texas ICE Jail
Children are describing worms in their food and dangerous medical neglect inside a Texas ICE jail. Ms. Rachel spoke out after hearing directly from kids trapped in detention, exposing conditions no child should ever endure. Freedom over fascism means refusing to normalize cages, hunger, and fear as public policy. People power means protecting children first and shutting these facilities down. HuffPost
💔 Why It Matters and Who Is Harmed by Project 2025
Think about the family trying to survive inside a detention center while medical care fails and children describe hunger, illness, and fear. Think about the lawful visa holder allegedly profiled, shackled, and moved across state lines after masked agents smashed his window. Think about the military spouse detained during a residency appointment while her family’s service counts for nothing. Think about what it means when deaths rise in custody and the government responds by telling the public less.
These are not isolated headlines. They show the human cost of a politics that hides abuse, expands detention, and treats constitutional rights like obstacles instead of guarantees. The people harmed first are immigrant families, children in detention, lawful residents targeted by federal force, military households, and everyone whose freedom grows weaker when the government can cage, conceal, and punish with less scrutiny. That is why Project 2025 is not just a document or a slogan. It is a governing model built on fear, impunity, and the belief that some people can be stripped of dignity in plain sight.

🔍 The Bigger Picture: This Is What Authoritarianism Looks Like
Hide more from the public as deaths in custody rise. Let masked agents use force and fear during street detentions. Treat even military families as disposable. Leave children in detention to describe worms in their food, medical neglect, and terror behind locked doors. That is the authoritarian pattern this newsletter tracks under Project 2025: more secrecy, more cruelty, less accountability, and less democracy.
Authoritarianism does not always arrive in one dramatic moment. It grows when the government reduces transparency as people die in its custody, when federal agents act like they are above the law, when families are detained without dignity or mercy, and when abuse is normalized as policy. That is the connection across these stories. They are all about concentrated power, shrinking rights, and a system trying to teach the public that some people can be dehumanized without consequence.
📢 What Comes Next: Keep Being Loud
🏛️ Congress and ICE oversight
Demand public hearings into the rising death toll in ICE custody, the decision to release fewer details when people die, and the conditions inside family detention centers. Congress should not allow secrecy to cover abuse, neglect, and preventable death.
⚖️ Defend civil rights and due process
Support lawsuits and legal challenges against unlawful ICE tactics, including racial profiling, violent detentions, and the use of masked agents who act like they are above the law. Federal power should never mean freedom from accountability.
👨👩👧 Protect children and families
Call for an end to family detention and demand immediate protections for children facing hunger, illness, and medical neglect behind locked doors. No child belongs in a cage, and no parent should have to depend on public outrage to keep their family alive.
🎖️ Stand with immigrant and military families
Demand protection for military households, work permit holders, and longtime community members swept into arbitrary detention. When the government treats even a service member’s family as disposable, it sends a message that families do not matter.
📣 Reject secrecy and cruelty as policy
Keep saying it clearly: when people are dying in custody and the government tells the public less, that is not transparency. It is a warning sign. Share these stories, document the abuse, and refuse to let detention disappear behind bureaucracy, silence, and fear.
Together, we can defend our rights, freedoms, the rule of law, and democracy, hold leaders accountable to the people’s will, and inspire voters to make a meaningful difference.

I previously thought it began with trickle down economics, the evolution of the corporate lobby industry, and how that empowered Republicans. But those were just two steps toward implementing a much bigger plan… The Powell Memo
