Freedom Over Fascism: Resist Project 2025 for April 23, 2026
Resist Project 2025 people-powered news for April 23, 2026: anti-war dissent, sexual harassment in Congress, war powers, and truth over propaganda.
They’re Counting on You to Look Away from Project 2025. Don’t.
The pattern is getting harder to ignore. This week, a major study documented dozens of sexual harassment allegations involving members of Congress, veterans and military family members were detained at the Capitol for protesting the Iran war, fresh reporting raised new questions about whether Trump is trusted inside his own war command structure, and recent polling showed broad public resistance to the war and to Trump’s handling of it.
This is Resist Project 2025 in real time: impunity for the powerful, punishment for dissent, chaos at the top, and propaganda aimed at the public while democracy absorbs the damage. The playbook depends on people missing the connection. We cannot afford to look away.
What Happened: This Week's Project 2025 Stories
This week’s stories were about more than scandal. They showed how abuse, militarism, and institutional breakdown feed one another when accountability collapses. Under this kind of politics, staffers are expected to absorb harassment, veterans are handcuffed for opposing war, and the public is told to accept reckless leadership even when the facts keep pointing in the other direction.
Dozens of US lawmakers have been accused of sexual harassment, study finds
Power without accountability becomes abuse. A new study found 53 workplace sexual harassment allegations against at least 30 members of Congress, and most victims were staffers. Survivors deserve more than another resignation and a forgotten headline. People power means changing the rules, protecting workers, and ending the culture that lets the powerful prey on those with less power. The Guardian
Dozens of US Military Veterans Arrested At Capitol During Protest Against Iran War
When veterans get arrested for opposing war, democracy is in trouble. Reports say dozens of US military veterans were detained at the Capitol after protesting the Iran war, many in uniform and some with military families beside them. People power means listening when those sent to serve say enough. War without accountability abroad always threatens rights and democracy at home. Sunday Guardian Live
AOC Renews Call to Oust Trump After Report on His Exclusion From Situation Room
If a president cannot be trusted in the Situation Room, the danger is bigger than one scandal. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez renewed calls to remove Trump after reports that aides kept him from real-time military updates because they believed his impatience would not help. People power means leaders who can be trusted with war, lives, and democracy. Truthout
Trump keeps claiming victory in Iran. Our new poll shows voters aren’t buying it.
Voters are not buying the war spin. A new Politico poll found most Americans say the Iran war is not in the national interest, only 38 percent back the strikes, and many do not believe Trump has clear goals. People power starts with rejecting propaganda and demanding leaders put human needs, truth, and democracy ahead of reckless war. Politico
💔 Why It Matters and Who Is Harmed by Project 2025
Think about the congressional staffer expected to work under lawmakers accused of harassment. Think about the veteran or military family member zip-tied inside the Capitol for opposing another war. Think about the public learning that a president may have been managed around during live war updates while the same administration still expects unquestioning loyalty from everyone else. Think about the families who will absorb the costs of war, repression, and instability while powerful people keep calling it strength.
These are not isolated headlines. They show the human cost of a politics that protects abusers, punishes dissent, and treats truth like a threat. The people harmed first are women, staffers, military families, civilians touched by war, and everyone whose freedom gets weaker when accountability disappears.

🔍 The Bigger Picture: This Is What Authoritarianism Looks Like
Protect the powerful. Arrest the people warning against war. Ask the public to trust a war narrative that large numbers of voters reject. Keep moving forward even when fresh reporting raises doubts about whether the president is trusted in a military crisis. That is the authoritarian pattern this newsletter tracks under Project 2025: more impunity, more obedience, less democracy.
Authoritarianism does not always arrive in one dramatic moment. It grows when institutions excuse harassment, when protest is treated like disorder, when war powers float free of accountability, and when propaganda is used to cover failure. That is the connection across these stories. They are all about concentrated power and a shrinking space for ordinary people to demand truth, safety, and self-government.
📢 What Comes Next: Keep Being Loud
🏛️ Congress and workplace abuse
Demand independent investigations, stronger protections for congressional staff, and real consequences that do not end with a resignation and a payout. Congress should not be a workplace where power shelters harassment.
✊ Protect anti-war dissent
Tell Congress to defend the right to protest and to listen when veterans warn against reckless war. Arresting veterans does not answer their questions of the costs and consequences of a senseless war with no plan.
🚨 War powers and fitness for command
Demand public hearings on Trump’s handling of the Iran war, Congress’s role in authorizing force, and any report that aides were managing around the president during live military operations. The country deserves facts, not spin.
📣 Reject the war propaganda
Keep saying it clearly: voters are not buying endless war, and our resources should go toward care, stability, and democracy instead of more chaos sold as strength.
Together, we can defend our rights, freedoms, the rule of law, and democracy, hold leaders accountable to the people’s will, and inspire voters to make a meaningful difference.
People Power United is independent, people-powered news and grassroot movement actions dedicated to defending our rights, freedoms, the rule of law, and democracy.
